Gaze into My Eyes

While traveling to Copper Harbor, Michigan a delightful red fox crossed our path. He politely stopped along the road so, as I thought, to take his picture. However, upon further review, it appears he wanted me to just gaze into his bright and intense eyes. Nature is mysteriously beautiful.

Sunrise In Her Eyes

It is early morning on the farm. It is cold and the frost is still on the ground. Dreary eyes begin to open. The warmth of the sunrise opens to a brand new day. She looks intently and sees it shine on the horizon.

Hunting the Shore

A family of Cedar Waxwings hung close by the shore of the Fanny Hooe Creek which meets with the waters of Lake Superior in Copper Harbor. The waxwings appeared to dance above the water, swooping and swaying, while hunting tiny insect morsels for dinner.

Loon Legend

There is a legend told by the native people from the Great Lakes region speaking about a young girl who loved the lake and all the beings that lived there. She would rather play down at the lake instead of other children in the area. She loved all the water animal people and they loved her in return. She especially loved the loon family. One day the girl did not come home and her parents feared for her. The next spring a new loon family came to the lake and set up a home near the lodge of the girl’s mother and father. One evening the girl’s parents heard a different kind of loon song. They found if they concentrated they could make out human words. It was their daughter! Transformed into one of the loons she loved so much.
